VA Home Loan Rules Change
Qualified veterans and active-duty military personnel have been able to buy a home for as much as $417,000 without a down payment or private mortgage insurance for some time now. However the Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae) has changed its rules to allow larger VA loans if the veteran or servicemember is willing to make a down payment of at least 25 percent of the portion of the home's price that exceeds $417,000. GI Bill Benefit Expiration Date
Once you have separated from the service you have 10 years to use all of your benefits. Although separating from service "starts the clock" on your 10-year time limit, you should know that if you rejoin active-duty service for more than 90 days, during the 10-year period, your 10-year clock is reset. If you don't think our military pilots earn their pay, you need to take a look at this picture...and then look again and realize what you're seeing.
This photo was taken by a soldier in Afghanistan of a helo rescue mission. The pilot is a PA Guard member who flies EMS choppers in civilian life. Now how many people on the planet you reckon could set the ass end of a chopper down on the roof top of a shack on a steep mountain cliff and hold it there while soldiers load wounded men in the rear?! If this does not impress you, nothing ever will. It gives me the chills and a serious case of vertigo. I can't even imagine having the nerve--much less the talent and ability. God Bless our military!
