Veteran GI BIll Payment Rates
Your GI Bill monthly payment rate is determined by two factors: your student status (full time, half time, or part time) and your duty status. Your school determines your student status. In most cases you would be considered a full time student if you are taking 12 or more credits per semester. Click here to see a full breakdown of Veteran Benefit Payment Rates.

A Home of Their Own
Since it began in 1944, VA's loan guaranty program has helped some 18 million veterans achieve the American dream of homeownership. The Veterans Benefit Act of 2004 changed the maximum guaranty amount for certain loans in excess of $144,000 to an amount equal to 25 percent of the Freddie Mac conforming loan limit for a single family residence. This means that the maximum no-down-payment loan that a veteran can obtain will always be the same as the conventional conforming limit. program also administers the specially adapted housing program, which provides grants to veterans who have certain service-connected disabilities. For more information, visit the VA Home Loan Guaranty Services Webpage.
Special Outreach
The Special Outreach website provides additional information as required by the United States Congress to all veterans who live in the states of Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, and Ohio where the average amount of VA disability compensation paid is lower than in other states. This information is important to all veterans no matter where they live. VA wants to be sure all veterans are aware of the VA disability benefits that are available and know how to apply for them. For more information, visit the VA's Special Outreach to Veterans Website.

Iran ready for 'serious' nuke talks

Iran said yesterday that it was ready for "serious negotiations" over its disputed nuclear programs, but showed no sign it accepted the Bush administration's bottom-line demand to halt all uranium enrichment before any talks can begin. Washinton Times

Iran Response Designed to Fool the Left
Designed to fool the gullable. The gullable, the American Democrats, the Democrat Party, the American left, the world left, and the diplomatic community, with the hope being that in the year 2008, a Democrat president exists in this country, and they then will be relatively confident that nobody will stop them. But they just can't trust Bush, and I guarantee you, they are afraid of him. He has created doubt and fear and uncertainty in their minds. They don't want to be bombed, I don't care what anybody says, they don't want to be hit. They're rattling all these war drums and rattling their sabers, but they don't want to be bombed, and they can't be sure that Bush won't do it. They have much more faith that will never happen with a Democrat in the White House, and that's what this response today is all about, nothing more complicated than that. Rush Audio

Internet Attracts Con Artists
The Justice Department reports that scam artists use e-mail, chat rooms, message boards or Websites to present fraudulent proposals to prospective victims, conduct fraudulent transactions and transfer the proceeds to financial institutions or others connected with the crime. With the explosive growth of online commerce, criminals try to present fraudulent schemes in ways that look virtually identical to the goods and services offered by legitimate online merchants. Navy Launches Low Bandwidth Website
The Navy Exchange Service Command's (NEXCOM) Uniform Support Center has launched a low bandwidth Website in the summer for uniform purchases. The new website should download for viewing much quicker for dial-up or low-speed Internet connections, as may be the case aboard ships and overseas stations. To access the low bandwidth Website for uniform purchases, visit http://www.navy-nex.com/ and click the "Order Uniforms Online" tab. This leads to a screen showing two options: one for high speed and the other for low speed Internet connections. For plain text, choose the latter. Once the authorized sponsor's information is entered, the low bandwidth website will appear.

New Website Lists Servicemembers' Rights
The Department of Justice has launched a website to protect servicemembers' rights. The website at http://www.servicemembers.gov/ outlines the rights servicemembers have under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act and the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act. U.S. Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzalez urges any servicemember with questions to go to the Justice Department Website. Military lawyers can help servicemembers and their families navigate through the laws.

The UN IS UNDERMINING ISRAEL & THE UNITED STATES

Received via email from Move America Forward.
You have surely heard about the UN-imposed ceasefire that was drafted to end the military campaign by Israel against the terrorist group, Hezbollah, and it's base of operations in South Lebanon.

What you may not realize is that the United Nations has a horrific track record over the past 25 years in siding with terrorist organizations over the United States and Israel.

UN personnel and equipment have repeatedly been used to support the terrorists. In a shocking video clip, United Nations' ambulances are used to transport Palestinian terrorists who are engaged in a firefight with Israeli military personnel.

This is a MUST SEE video - look at the clear UN markings, including the UN's flag flying atop the ambulance: Watch the Video HERE.

In this video clip, Palestinian terrorists use an ambulance to smuggle suicide bombs into Israel, with the intent of killing and injuring innocent Israeli citizens in restaurants and stores.

Or you can watch this video clip, where terrorists use a UN ambulance to transport rockets to be used against Israel. Keep watching till the end when they load the ambulance up and drive away.

Israel Attacks, Rejects Lebanese and UN Claims

PM Olmert's office staffer says Israel's raid in Lebanon yesterday was not a violation of the ceasefire, but rather the required response to Hizbullah's ongoing violations of the ceasefire.

"The operation was necessary," the official in the Prime Minister's Office, said, "because Hizbullah is violating the ceasefire by smuggling in war materiel from Syria and Iran. It was a necessary operation, and it is good that we did it." Israel National News

29 Palms Marine base celebrates 54th birthday

Sgt. Major Ray WilburnWhen Sgt. Major Ray Wilburn was stationed on the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps base in 1954, trailers were the only housing and the doorways and bathtubs would fill up with sand whenever the wind blew.

Since joining the Marines in 1939 - for $20.80 a month - 87-year-old Wilburn served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Then after 35 years of retirement, he donned a new uniform Friday and returned to active duty. For one day.

He was ordered to report to the 54th birthday celebration of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms and became part of the event's symbolic link of the past and present. Photo Gallery

Kennedy: Cheney's Comments on Ned Lamont 'Frightening'

Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy is charging back at the vice president for his remarks on the Connecticut Senate race.

Vice President Dick Cheney claimed last week that Ned Lamont’s upset victory in the Democratic primary could embolden terrorists.

He suggested Lamont’s victory might encourage "the al-Qaida types” who want to break the will of the American people. More

No, frightening is when your date leaves you at the bottom of a lake!

And frightening is when politicians would rather side with terrorists than acknowledge the things the "other side" are doing RIGHT!" ~ SpeedwayThe Duke of Chappaquiddick Bay

Pace: Military Loss Impossible, But U.S. Will Is Vital for Success

Jim Garamone, American Forces Press Service
BAGHDAD, Aug. 12, 2006 – The will of the United States is the only question in whether the nation’s effort in Iraq and Afghanistan will succeed, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said today.

“There is no way to militarily lose this war,” Marine Gen. Peter Pace said, speaking to reporters traveling with him while en route here. “The only way we can lose is if we decide that we just don’t want to do it. And if we decide that, that would not end the involvement, it would simply shift it from its current battlefield in Iraq and Afghanistan to our home.”

Pace said support for the war is a concern for him, “because the American military fights the wars that the nation wants us to fight. The American people’s will is a very important part of that,” he said. “I have faith in the American people’s ability to find the right boundaries.”

He said Americans need to remember the events of Sept. 11, 2001. The United States did not start the war, he said, but “if we were to come home, the war would simply follow us home. I believe the American people would understand that.”

The anti-American socialist liberal twits do not.
The Party Of Cut and RunPace, a Vietnam veteran, said the American people are still very supportive of servicemembers. He assures soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines he meets during trips of that fact.

Americans must understand that this is a long war, he said, and it is not of U.S. choosing. “Our walking away would not stop the enemy from following us home,” he said. Al Qaeda extremists have been very explicit in their aims, he noted; they want their ideology to triumph, and they want the freedoms and liberty personified by the United States to end.

“Americans are slow to anger, desirous of living peacefully, but also have a point that if you cross it, they raise up a strength that our enemies will never understand,” he said. “That strength was manifested on 9/11, and it will continue.”

The chairman said a dialogue about U.S. involvement in the war is important. “But there shouldn’t be one about whether we will defend ourselves,” he said. “As a nation, our enemies must know we will do this as long as it takes. We fought the Cold War for 50 years, we’ll fight this one for 50 years if we have to.”

Muslim Group Upset

CNS News
Muslim Group Upset by Bush's Use of 'Islamic Fascists'
A Muslim group criticized President Bush for saying on Thursday that America is “at war with Islamic fascists.” The Council on American-Islamic Relations said the president’s “hot button” terminology puts the name of Islam and the Muslim community at risk.

Bush called the attempted terrorist attack "a stark reminder that this nation is at war with Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom, to hurt our nation."

Nihad Awad, executive director of CAIR, believes Bush should not even mention Islam when referring to the would-be terrorists.

What would you like them called?
They are Islam and they are terrorists.
They are willing to blow their selves up in order to kill thousands of Americans because they believe Allah has 40 virgins waiting for them on the other side. The only thing waiting for them is a seat in hell.

Anyone for Terrorist Profiling?
To ensure we Americans never offend anyone -- particularly fanatics intent on killing us -- law enforcement and security screeners are not allowed to "profile" people in public places or security checkpoints. However, they will continue to perform random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, Secret Service agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year-old congressmen with metal hips and even Medal of Honor recipients. But targeting Middle Eastern male Islamists between the ages 17 and 40 constitutes "ethnic profiling."

Reuters Doctoring Photos from Beirut?

Photograph shows blatant evidence of manipulation. Notice the repeating patterns in the smoke; this is almost certainly caused by using the Photoshop “clone” tool to add more smoke to the image.

It’s so incredibly obvious, it reminds me of the faked CBS memos. Smoke simply does not contain repeating symmetrical patterns like this, and you can see the repetition in both plumes of smoke. There’s really no question about it.

But it’s not only the plumes of smoke that were “enhanced.” There are also cloned buildings. littlegreenfootballs.com

Bush nixes Israeli pullout
"We will work with our partners to get the resolution laid down as quickly as possible," Mr. Bush said, with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at his side. One Hizbullah Kidnapper Captured by IDF

Aug 07, '06
by Hana Levi Julian

The chief of military intelligence revealed Sunday that the IDF has captured one of the Hizbullah terrorists who kidnapped two IDF troops on July 12th. The abduction set off the Re-engagement War. IsraelNationalNews.com

"In Lebanon, most civilian casualties are not the product of Israeli overzealousness — they are the most vital, important, and intentional victories in Hezbollah's campaign. We are witnessing what is perhaps the most successful manipulation of civilian deaths by a terrorist organization to date, and while the reality of the situation is apparent to some observers, most members of the media are either oblivious to their own culpability in spreading propaganda for Hezbollah, or simply don't mind doing so. -- Michelle Malkin

Mom's a Recruit

The Arizona Daily Star Published: 07.29.2006
Mother of four follows son into boot camp
When Laurie-Ann Fuca told loved ones she was planning to become a soldier, some doubled over and laughed until their stomachs hurt.

They hooted that she'd never pass the physical at her age, that she'd wilt without luxuries like manicures and martinis.

No one's laughing now at the 41-year-old Tucson soccer mom, who is making history as the first Arizona woman to join the Army past her 40th birthday. Mom's A Recruit

Marine Names Murtha in Defamation Suit

John Murtha / Caricature by John CoxWashington Post
A Marine Corps sergeant under investigation in connection with the deaths of 24 Iraqi civilians in Haditha is accusing Rep. John P. Murtha of defaming him in public comments about the case. Lawyers for Frank D. Wuterich, 26, argue in a suit to be filed Wednesday in federal court that Murtha falsely accused Wuterich "of cold-blooded murder and war crimes."
